Mind Training, Cultivating Presence, & Living with Intention
Quote:
“I think what everyone should be doing, before it’s too late, is committing themselves to what they really want to do with their lives.”
– Matthieu Ricard
Reflection:
How often do we let life pass us by, waiting for the perfect moment to start pursuing what truly matters? We tell ourselves, “I’ll start next year,” or “Once things settle down, I’ll focus on what I love.” But life doesn’t wait. The present moment is the only certainty we have.
Buddhist philosophy teaches us the impermanence of all things. If we recognize this truth deeply, it can be a catalyst to stop postponing our passions and live with intention. The question is: Are we truly committing to what brings us fulfillment, or are we delaying our purpose out of fear and distraction?
Instead of waiting for the “right time,” we can begin today. Commitment to our true path doesn’t require grand gestures—it starts with a single step, followed by another. Living fully is not about achieving a perfect life; it’s about consciously choosing each day to align with what lights us up inside.
Action:
Take a moment to reflect: If you had no fears, no external pressures, what would you devote your life to? Write it down.
Now, commit to one small action that brings you closer to this vision—whether it’s signing up for a class, making time for a passion project, or having a conversation that’s long overdue. Start today. Before it’s too late.
